Visibility, hospitality, and identity. These were the key goals in the redesign and overall ambiance of Ohkay Casino in Espanola. After years of being the town's main night-life attraction, its identity was in need of a more contemporary touch to keep up with changing times and engage locals and out-of-town tourists.

Modernizing the Main Lobby and VIP Player's Suite was key in this contemporary shift, and in order to engage visitors with the nearby game room and other amenities, wide open views towards the game room can be seen, and bold, bright signage guide the eye of each visitor. The visibility between adjacent rooms has transformed with transparency and the lights from each space interact with one another to attract its visitors through open, unrestricted circulation. Custom plywood screens backlit by programmable LED lighting greet each guest creating a memorable impression in both the Main Lobby and VIP Suite. Programming the LED lighting allows flexibility through customization and colors are able to reflect day-to-day changes or seasonal events to maintain novelty.

By bringing together warm, contemporary materials with modern fabrication techniques, the key point of guest hospitality and engagement has been renewed with vitality and exuberance.
